Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo): Ms Jenny Roberds
Welcome to the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) page on our school website. Here you will find the information you need regarding the SEND provision at Wells hall Primary School. With the introduction of The Children and Families Act 2014, changes have been made to the way in which children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are supported. The Government has listened to parents’ opinions of their experience of services and has introduced measures to bring about improvements. From September 2014, the new 0 – 25 Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Code of Practice sets out a more personal and better graduated response for supporting children with SEND.
Suffolk Local Offer
As part of the new Code of Practice, each Local Authority has to publish a ‘Local Offer‘ that sets out, in one place, information and advice on the support and services available for children, young people and their families. This will include what is available within education, health and social care. The link to the Suffolk Local Offer is in the Further Information section at the bottom of this page.
SEN Information Report | Our Local Offer
All children and young people have the right to expect a good education that helps them to achieve their best and helps them in their development to become independent adults and to succeed in life.
For children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, their needs can be met through varied levels of support at different times. To find out more about how we support and work with children and young people with SEND and their families, please look at our contribution to Suffolk’s Local Offer (our SEN Information Report) which is available in the attachments section on this page.
Our SEND Information Report and our Accessibility Plan can be viewed from the attachments section on this page and the link to the Trust SEND Policy is in the further information section below, together with a link to the Suffolk Local Offer.
