Safeguarding
Safeguarding at Wells Hall Primary School
At Wells Hall Primary School, the pupils are at the heart of everything we do, and their safety is paramount. All members of staff and governors are committed to keeping the pupils safe and it is our aim that all pupils are well cared for so that they can thrive. Safeguarding is more than protecting children from deliberate harm but it also includes keeping safe online, protection against racist abuse and children missing their education.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in keeping them safe. To fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals must ensure their approach is child-centred. This means that they must always consider what is in the best interests of the child.
We also have a well-developed pastoral support programme, that includes offers of Early Help for families who may be struggling against debt, poverty, domestic abuse and other factors of vulnerability.

Working in partnership
There are occasions when our concern about a child means that we have to consult other agencies. Unauthorised absences, for instance, may be referred to partner agencies such as Suffolk County Council’s Children’s Social Care, Special Educational Needs or Children Missing in Education teams. Whilst we would always aim to work in partnership with parents there may be exceptions to this when concerns are raised for the protection of a child.
The procedures which we follow have been laid down by the Suffolk Safeguarding Partnership, and Unity Schools Partnership has adopted a Safeguarding Policy in line with this for the safety of all.
